Match Preview

Two veterans go head to head with a place in the last 16 at stake. Both have started the tournament well, although Tomas Berdych has dropped two sets which came as a bit of a surprise to some. Both know the tournament well and what it takes to win, after many years on the tour so expect the compete levels to be very high from them. The stats are level for games played on a hard surface, and again here this should be a tight game, and a good one to watch. Let's check our betting tips for tennis! ATP Australian Open Betting Tips

Del Potro won in straight sets in his opening game with relative ease, before being tested a little more against Karen Khachanov in round two. He won that game in four sets, 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 but required two tie breaks to get through. Overall, his form looks a little better that Berdych’s right now, and although he dropped a set in his last game, Khachanov put up a good fight. All in all, our Del Potro betting tips are in his favour.

Del Potro looks to have the advantage when it comes to recent form, and there is little else to choose between these two veterans. Their last meeting came in 2017, and Del Potro also won that, giving him a slight psychological advantage going into the game. That game was also on a hard surface, which is what this one will be played on. Plus, 10Bet offers great odds on tennis for this match, and this probably the tennis bet of the day!

Berdych has played well so far in the tournament to win his two games with relative ease. However, he has dropped a set in both of those games against lesser opponents, so he is clearly not at the top of his game. In the last round he won 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Guillermo Garcia Lopez and while that was comfortable, he will be concerned about his performance in the second set, where he was blown away by his opponent, against all Berdych predictions. In both games so far for Tomas Berdych he has dropped a set, and that makes him look a little vulnerable going in against a top player like Del Potro. He is however good enough to test his opponent, and we are sure Berdych will pick up a set at some point in this game. However, despite that we think Del Potro is the most likely winner of this one, and the score line of 3-1 looks to be a reasonable bet based on what we have seen so far, and their latest meeting in 2017.
