2017 Mexican Grand Prix - the Hottest Race since 1963!

Miroslaw Jaworski

The Mexican GP is always a highlight on the calendar with many viewers and spectators enjoying all of the action and drama from the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Here at OddsDigger we have taken a look at the 2017 Mexico Grand Prix which is likely to be one of the pivotal races on this season’s calendar. We offer expert Formula 1 Mexico betting tips with full analysis, stats and predictions.

Key Information and History of the Mexico Grand Prix F1 Circuit

The Formula 1 Mexico hasn’t always been held at this Mexico City track with racing held here between 1963-70, 1986-92 and then in each of the last two years. The Mexican Grand Prix 2017 will be held on Sunday 29th October.

It is one of the shortest circuits on the calendar standing at just 4.304 KM and drivers are required to complete 71 laps of the Mexican track. It was built to the east of Mexico City and attracts an army of passionate fans each and every year.

In the past, the Mexican GP was the final race of the season with the driver’s championship decided at this track on a number of occasions. It has since shuffled down the calendar but remains at the business end of the campaign.

The venue was completely revamped ahead of the return of the Mexican Grand Prix but a number of problems had still not been ironed out. A high altitude has always placed greater pressure on cars engines in this particular race but the bumpy surface is something which has been revamped prior to 2015.

The aforementioned altitude does make it one of the toughest tracks to drive around and not all drivers are fans of the GP Mexico betting. The revamped track has been largely well-received however and crowds remain high at the venue following an injection of cash from the Mexican government.

The latest deal is a five-year contract which will keep the Mexican Grand Prix at this track until 2020.

Prominent Drivers Taking Part in the Mexican Grand Prix 2017

Due to the stop-start nature of the Mexican F1 at this track, there aren’t many records available for drivers and many of the current bunch have relatively few statistics here in Mexico City.

The all-time record at the track is held by Jim Clark. The Brit won here three times in 1962, 1963 and 1967. His first victory in Mexico was a shared success with Trevor Taylor. Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost have also won twice at the track. The British drivers do seem to fare well here, considering Mexican Grand Prix betting odds.

Lotus leads the way with four victories at the Mexican Grand Prix although McLaren and Williams have three each.

Lewis Hamilton proved successful at the Mexico circuit last season after taking pole position for the race. His quality during the Mexico F1 qualifying proved to be the different in the event 12 months ago. Hamilton was aiming to track down championship leader Nico Rosberg and gave himself plenty a fighting chance with his success so his Mexico F1 GP odds are remarkable.

Rosberg joined Hamilton on the podium in Mexico with Daniel Riccardo coming in third and clocking the fastest lap of the track in the process.

The British driver could once again find himself in desperate need of the points coming into the Mexico City Grand Prix and will be aiming to make it three years in a row securing a podium finish at the circuit.

Sebastian Vettel will be hoping for a much-improved performance at this Grand Prix and despite making up two places on the grid his Ferrari could only finish in a disappointing 5th. Max Verstappen narrowly missed out on a podium finish at the Mexican Grand Prix last year and will be aiming to go one better. The young driver does appear to get into his groove as the season draws to a close.

Finally, Sergio Perez will be going for glory at his home Grand Prix. The Mexican has suffered a disappointing campaign this year but did manage to grab a top ten finish at last season’s GP Mexico.

Mexico Grand Prix Predictions for the 2017 Race Complete with Advice on Picking This Year’s Winner

Lewis Hamilton smiling after winning a race

We predicted Hamilton's successful victory at the United States Grand Prix last week and the Birton delivered for the 4th straight season in Texas. Lewis Hamilton actually lost out to rival Vettel on the grueling uphill dash to the first corner, yet he took the lead in a few laps. Hamilton is on the verge of winning the Drivers' Championship should he earns another first place at the Mexican Grand Prix. He only needs to finish in the first five at the prestigious Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez to earn the Championship, but the staggering form he is boasting is enough to get our vote here. Let's see other 2017 Mexico Grand Prix predictions as well.

Sebastian Vettel is currently second in the Drivers' Championship and Ferrari is also on the same position in the Constructors' Championship. With more than 60 points behind Hamilton, Vettel plays a crucial role in the Briton's quest for the Championship title even though he plays limited appeal to the first place in Mexico. In other words, Hamilton will become a world champion if Vettel doesn't clinch at least the second place. Hence, with such a great role in this race, our bet is on a Top 3 Finish in our Mexico Grand Prix betting tips.

Max Verstappen has a history of doing fastest laps and even overcoming Lewis Hamilton. He did pretty well in Texas, earning a well-deserved 4th place. Occupying the 6th place in the Drivers' Championship, Verstappen powered through from sixteenth on the grid to overtake Raikkonen for 3rd on the last lap at the US Grand Prix, yet his move was deemed illegal after he ran off the racing track. Even though he is far from boasting the best Mexican GP winner odds, he can actually manage to get the fastest lap.
