2017 Japanese Grand Prix - Whom Will You Bet On?

Miroslaw Jaworski

OddsDigger have put together a comprehensive betting guide for the Japanese Grand Prix 2017 taking place at the Suzuki Circuit including the best betting tips for the event.

The Japanese Grand Prix 2017 takes place on the 8th of October and is one of the decisive events on the calendar. It could make or break in the race for the driver’s championship for a number of competitors.

Japanese Grand Prix 2017 Track History - Suzuka Welcomes Top Drivers

The Suzuka F1 2017 takes place close to Nagoya and is one of the more far-flung destinations on the Formula One calendar. The first race in Japan was held in 1976 at the Fuji Speedway before eventually returning to the country in 1987 seeing the start of the Japan F1 races here at Suzuka.

For a short while, an agreement meant the Japan F1 alternated between here and Fuji before eventually moving to Suzuka on a full-time basis from 2009 onwards.

It is generally considered one of the hardest tracks on the calendar with many drivers squandering their chances of winning the title at this circuit. The Japanese Grand Prix 2017 will be the 44th staging of the event at this track with the contract set to be renewed next year. It would be important to learn all Japan F1 betting tips.

A Guide to the Best Drivers Competing in the Suzuka Grand Prix 2017

Nico Rosberg was the Japanese Grand Prix winner in 2016 before announcing his retirement following his successful season. The German rattled home in first place clocking up a time of 1:30.647 in his final GP success ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. The remarkable thing about the race was that all competitors finished the race with no retirements whatsoever. But what are the F1 betting odds this year?

Michael Schumacher holds the best all-time record at the Japan F1 track with six successes. No current driver can usurp the driver this season although Sebastian Vettel will be aiming for his 5th win at the track. Lewis Hamilton has been successful on three different occasions here although made a sloppy start to the race twelve months ago. Hamilton and Vettel will once again be in prominent positions 2017 Japanese Grand Prix betting.

Vettel also holds the record for the fastest lap in the race and any repeat of that in the Japanese Grand Prix 2017 will see him go close again. McLaren has the best record at the track having won on nine different occasions although Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso didn’t fare well in last season’s race. Alonso has won the race on two occasions previously, the last of which arrived in 2008.

Max Verstappen will be hoping for a repeat of the performance which saw him come a narrow second to Rosberg in last year’s event as F1 Japan predictions 2017 are. Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Riccardo have both enjoyed good seasons so far and weren’t far away from making the podium last year. They are also likely to be amongst the Japanese Grand Prix predictions for many pundits.

2017 Japanese Grand Prix Betting Tips for This Year’s Event at the Suzuki Circuit

Many previous titles have been won at this track and this year could be no exception. Sebastian Vettel will be aiming to get some points on the board and see off the challenge of Lewis Hamilton, but Max Verstappen needs to be considered as well in our F1 Japanese Grand Prix tips.

#1 Lewis Hamilton

Hamilton began in pole position at the Malaysian Grand Prix on the 1st of October, yet his car problems made him lack the pace required to maintain a top position. Therefore, by the end of the 4th lap Max Verstappen had overtaken him. He managed to secure second place miraculously as he put a very solid drive despite his problem. He was 12.77 seconds behind Verstappen, but his form is outstanding and we need to mention this in our Japanese Grand Prix betting tips. The 18 points he received helped him extend his lead at the top of the Drivers' Championship table. Vettel performed poorly in Malaysia and Singapore, and his car might need a new gearbox for Japan. Verstappen won the Malaysian Grand Prix, but that was because Hamilton's car had problems. We see value in betting on Hamilton as the Japanese track is one of his favourites. Hamilton is our Japanese Grand Prix outright winner.

#2 Winning Margin

Even though Verstappen impressed everyone in Malaysia, the form favourite Lewis Hamilton did absolutely nothing wrong. He had problems with his car, more precisely with the mechanical part. If Mercedes improves this side of things, Hamilton has a great chance to further extend his lead in the Drivers' Championship, but Verstappen will be his tail. There will most likely be a close-run race and we will see two of the best drivers in the world trying to get ahead, and the Winning Margin market seems to be a valuable choice when it comes to Japanese Grand Prix betting odds.

#3 Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel, despite the penalty, most likely got the proverbial draw from the weekend, and he limited the damage more than punters expect, firstly with Hamilton not winning and then with managing a fourth place with some great strategy calls. It's not much room left with just five races to go and over 30 points to recover, but he's holding the record in Japan and has won here four times - in 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2013, so he will most likely be on the podium if he qualifies fastest. It's worth checking out this pick in our F1 tips.

It’s easy to follow all of the action from the Japanese Grand Prix 2017 via a number of television networks and channels including NBC and Sky Sports F1. It is also available to stream via Sky Go or Now TV.

Another thrilling and possibly decisive contest awaits in the Japan F1 2017 and we can’t wait here at OddsDigger.com. It could make or break for those at the top of the driver’s championship and fans cannot wait for another exciting encounter at the Japanese Grand Prix.
