2016 Malaysian Grand Prix - Betting Tips and Predictions

Miroslaw Jaworski

Avid bettors should get ready for the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix. Taking place at the Sepand International Circuit, the event has been running since the '60s, but the current name was created in 2011.

Formula 1 Standings - Brief Analysis of the Drivers

We're in mid-season right now and with a torrential storm halfway through the year we can see a scene where Lewis Hamilton tops the list in the Drivers' Championship. The second pole position is secured by Nico Rosberg and with the Formula 1 - Malaysian Grand Prix coming soon chances are we will see all the F1 gunslingers battle for supremacy.

As always, Sebastian Vettel is trying to split the Mercedes team by lapping seconds faster or slower between Nico Rosberg and Lewis. We think he foresees the Mercedes as a truly difficult opponent to pass, and Vettel will definitely need to catch up from behind before the Formula 1 Malasia as the track will prove to be quite challenging there - mainly because of the tropical weather conditions.

There are realistic chances for Vettel to win the Drivers' Championship this year, but that's a long bet. Unless rain becomes an important factor, Hamilton will probably lead the race again.

Malaysian Grand Prix - Bet online

One good value bet is on the Mercedes pair of Rosberg and Hamilton for the fastest lap. Our theory is that Hamilton and Rosberg may dominate the Grand Prix of Malaysia - that's because Mercedes just boasts a performance edge that makes it hard to see another driver or team winning the race.

Our betting tips revolve around the idea that if the track will be wet, the Mercedes will go into the risk-management mode. In that case, winning the race will be 10 times more important than clocking the fastest lap of the event.

What you need to know - When it comes to Formula 1, bet on Mercedes. The team dominated the F1 world last year, winning most of the races, but it wasn't that dominant when it came to fastest laps. For instance, even though the fastest-lap strike of the Mercedes team in the sixteen Grands Prix that it won was 37.5%, bookmakers still quote short odds about Hamilton and Rosberg.

The Malaysian Grand Prix 2016 - Recommended Bets

Hamilton is a favourite to win the Grand Prix of Malaysia, while Nico Rosberg will probably go second. Remember, if the track is not wet, we might even see the fastest lap there. Vettel's most likely outcome will be the 3rd place - you can pick here between Winner w/o Rosberg/Hamilton or Podium Finish with both having the same odds of around 1.6. One safe option is the podium finish because that covers the top 3 positions.

When it comes to the Red Bull team, we don't think Max Verstappen, Ricciardo or Kvyat can win the podium. Verstappen will really have a hard time dealing with the humidity and heat of Malaysia.

How Did The 2015 Event Go

The 2015 Malaysian Grand Prix took place on March 29, 2015, in Kuala Lumpur, at the Sepang International Circuit. The winner was Sebastian Vettel who was not the favourite of the race. Although Lewis Hamilton led the race, and even though he had a 28-point lead over the Ferrari team in the Constructors' Championship, he still lost.
