Vladimir Petkovic has led his Switzerland side to four consecutive victories in their World Cup qualification campaign so far, which has the nation sat above Euro 2016 winners Portugal in first place in Group B.

Switzerland v Latvia: Match Preview

The home side have taken maximum points from their opening four games, which has put them three points clear at the top of the group ahead of Selecao. They may not have scored 16 goals like Portugal, but conceding just three times in over 360 minutes of football has stood them in good stead.

    -Switzerland 2-0 Portugal
    -Hungary 2-3 Switzerland
    -Andorra 1-2 Switzerland
    -Switzerland 2-0 Faroe Islands

Admir Mehmedi has two goals to his name as top scorer, with Switzerland's strength lying in their organisation rather than attacking firepower. Latvia, meanwhile, have scored just two times during their opening four fixtures in Group B.

Latvia opened up their qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Andorra, before losing to the minnows of Faroe Islands 2-0. This squad is struggled to find form and should not be any kind of a challenge for Switzerland in the form that they are in.

    -Andorra 0-1 Latvia
    -Latvia 0-2 Faroe Islands
    -Latvia 0-2 Hungary
    -Portugal 4-1 Latvia

Betting Advice

Josip Drmic is back in the Switzerland squad after an absence, with Petkovic having issue with his first-choice options or the spine of his team. Eren Derdiyok and Haris Seferovic have been the main striking options so far, but the Gladbach forward could force his way into his nation's plans with a quick goal.

Switzerland blistering form in the early stages of their qualifying campaign leaves little in the way of doubt when it comes to a prediction. Latvia have been terrible in front of goal and have fallen short of expectations, while their opponents on the weekend have impressed, allowing for a good margin of victory.
