Armenia v Kazakhstan Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips: Home advantage should be enough to see Armenia seal victory against Kazakhstan

Simon Harrison

Group E's two bottom teams clash heads in this weekend fixture, with both aiming to lift themselves into the chase for second place with a victory. Poland are already lighting the trail at the summit, but the next qualifying spot is still definitely up for grabs.

Armenia v Kazakhstan: Match Preview

Armenia managed to record their first win of the qualifying stage last time out, after battling to a 3 -2 home victory against Montenegro in November. On the road, they have struggled, but in Yerevan they have the potential to pick up some much-needed points. Kazakhstan are still searching for their inaugural three points.

    -Denmark 1-0 Armenia
    -Armenia 0-5 Romania
    -Poland 2-1 Armenia
    -Armenia 3-2 Montenegro

The hosts have struggled to keep a good defensive record, conceding 10 goals in their opening four fixtures. Fortunately for the hosts, Kazakhstan have scored just three times in their own group games so far. Against both Romania and Montenegro, they failed to score altogether, with a 2-2 home draw with Poland the only bright point.

Kazakhstan have drawn their first two games inside their own borders, but have disappointed away from home. Armenia, meanwhile, did manage to lose 5-0 in Yerevan against Romania back in October. Given their opponents record on the road, however, all signs point to them grabbing back-to-back Group B victories.

    -Kazakhstan 2-2 Poland
    -Montenegro 5-0 Kazakhstan
    -Kazakhstan 0-0 Romania
    -Denmark 4-1 Kazakhstan

Betting Advice

Artyom Simonyan has been late to join up with the Armenia camp, with Arthur Kartashyan struggling with an injury problem. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is their star man, and the ex-Borussia Dortmund forward has been excellent for Manchester United since making a switch to England during the summer.

Armenia will be keen to win back-to-back qualifiers to try and hunt down the second qualification place in Group E, with Kazakhstan's terrible away record so far showing that the hosts should have no trouble in taking a much-needed three points.
