Faroe Islands find themselves in the lofty heights of fourth place in Group B of the European Qualifying section for the upcoming World Cup, courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Hungary and a 2-0 away victory against Latvia back in October 2016.
Andorra are yet to win in a competitive fixture, and sit rock bottom of the group with four defeats from four outings. The minnows will take some confidence, however, from a recent 2-0 friendly win over San Marino last time out.
The home side have conceded 11 goals in their last three games, scoring just one in reply in a narrow 2-1 defeat by Switzerland. Portugal had no trouble at all in decimating Andorra, but the fact that Faroe Islands haven't scored in three of their four qualifiers will ease the hosts' concerns.
The visitors have managed to keep two clean sheets, against Hungary and Latvia, but defeats in October and November may have taken the wind out of their sails since then. To stand a chance of gaining ground on Switzerland and Portugal in Group B’s top two, Faroe Islands have to dispatch of Andorra this weekend with ease.
Ildefons Lima and Cristian Martinez grabbed the goals when Andorra triumphed over San Marino, but for them to pull off another upset looks unlikely. Sonni Nattestad and Joan Edmundsson scored for Faroe Islands when they pulled off their own shock against Latvia, but since then the goals have dried up.
Andorra are a certainty to not pick up a win during this World Cup qualifying campaign, with Faroe Islands the latest team to get the chance to profit from their lack of both population and current generation of talent.
