The Pitagorici are nearing the end of their first ever top flight campaign having been promoted to Serie A for the first time in the club’s history last May. Last week’s victory was their first win in 9 league games, so it’s probably too much to expect them to claw back the 5 points needed to escape the drop zone with just 8 games to play.

Inter Milan’s Serie A season has been a disappointing one and manager Stefano Pioli can secure Europa League football at best this year for one of the country’s most famous clubs. Inter have won just 2 of their last 5 league games. Out of the current Serie A top 10, only Sampdoria (10) have lost more games than Inter (9). The one bright spark has been the form of striker Mauro Icardi who has scored 20 Serie A goals this season despite his poor relationship with the Inter Milan fans.

Icardi’s personal total is only 3 short of Crotone’s haul for the entire season - Only Empoli (17) have scored fewer goals than Crotone (23) in Serie A in 2016/17. Don’t be fooled by Crotone’s 2-1 win at Chievo last Sunday – it was just their 4th Serie A win in 30 games this season. Along with Palermo and Pescara, they are comfortably one of the worst teams in the division. Those 3 sides have won 9 league games between them in the entire campaign. The only sensible prediction here is an away win for Inter Milan.

With the odds so weighted in the away team’s favour, however, it’s difficult to identify value in the betting markets. William Hill have odds of 1/2 for Inter to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the game. Bet365 have odds of 15/8 for Mauro Icardi to score the first goal.
