Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the French Ligue 1, and I’m keen to get in-form Reims onside against their struggling visitors.
Sunday 5th March, 14:00
Reims will look to stretch their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to 18 matches as they welce relegation-threatened Ajaccio to the Stade Auguste-Delaune tomorrow afternoon.
Reims have incredibly drawn eight and won one of their previous nine Ligue 1 matches on the road – with that victory coming away at Ajaccio – but they have managed to turn those draws into wins at home. Will Still’s men defeated in-form Toulouse 3-0 at home last time out, meaning they’ve now won six of their previous seven Ligue 1 fixtures as hosts – only dropping points in a 0-0 draw with a rejuvenated Nice side.
In what was a true six-pointer, Ajaccio came from behind to defeat Troyes 2-1 to move them up to 17th position in the Ligue 1 table, just a point from safety. Olivier Pantaloni’s visitors have struggled on their travels in recent months, losing five of their previous seven matches (W1-D1-L5), with their sole victory in that run coming against rock-bottom Angers.
After failing to win any of their opening five Ligue 1 fixtures as hosts, Reims have gone on to win six of their next seven and they’ll be confident of defeating a Ajaccio side that tends to struggle away from their Corsica base.
Will Still’s hosts have scored 17 goals across their last seven Ligue 1 contests in front of their supporters – with 11 of those coming across their previous three – and are a solid bet to bag another double against an Ajaccio defence that has registered a solitary clean sheet on their travels, shipping multiple goals in five of their previous six away trips.
