With the Cheltenham Festival just around the corner, I thought I'd jump on with a couple of selections before getting tucked Into a busy week of racing next week.
I might be going a bit mad in the head with this selection given he is a complete outsider at 25/1 but I thought he was a bit overpriced.
It's a pity there are only 2 places on offer but I'll still take him each way in case he does manage to grab some place money at nice odds.
It's pretty low-class stuff and to be perfectly honest the top two in the market don't really really do much for me to be priced up as short as they are. Although the prices are more than likely reflective of the yards in that the horses are trained. We all know Boughey does well with his youngsters and William Haggas is one of the better trainers out there.
Current market favourite Burnish met my selection at this venue last month. Burnish ended up storming clear and won nicely in the end however Monty Man ran into some traffic problems in running and never really got a clear run of things. I'm happy enough to draw a line through that 7th place finish as I don't feel it tells the whole story.
A 7lb pull in the weights will surely aid my selection chances tomorrow of reversing that form and he's worth a small each-way bet at 25s in my opinion.
Bougheys runner Razoni is another last-time-out winner after two narrow defeats previous to that however steps up in trip. On pedigree, it shouldn't be a problem but does have to prove stamina at this trip.
I was really impressed with Rose Bolt's debut run in novice company when she finished second behind Andrew Baldings Floating Spirit who looks a nice sort.
I managed to catch a replay of the debut run and most of the good work from Rose Bolt was done quite late on in the race. More a case of the ‘penny dropping' and ‘learning on the job' as they say. She'll hopefully know more today. She has a nice draw in stall one tomorrow, if she can break well and be ridden handily she'll be bang there.
Interesting that Haggas has Jockey Joanna Mason on board his runner. She's only ridden for him once before and won on that occasion so he must have liked what he saw from her on the day.
Good luck with Thursday's horse racing, as always, let me know in the comments your selections.
