Horse Racing Odds for Cheltenham Festival Day 2 on March 15

Jonathan Nixon

Cheltenham Festival gets into the day 2 but horse racing odds also focus on the races at Newcastle, Huntingdon, and Southwell.

The Cheltenham Festival continues into March 15. However, it is not the only horse racing event today with horse betting focus also upon races at Huntingdon, Newcastle, and Southwell.

Cheltenham betting tips

Cheltenham is rightly considered as the base for National Hunt racing. It is the location of the Cheltenham Festival – one of the prestigious horse racing events in the world. The second day of the 2017 Cheltenham Festival sees the RSA Novices' Chase event held at 14:10. It is a hugely prestigious event with plenty of horse racing betting tips predicting success for the American. However, the seven-year-old is tied with A Genie In Abottle at odds of 10/1. Recent form, though, is likely to see more odds in favour of American.

Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle is another event of importance with 89 runners taking part in a race that has a distance of over 2 miles and 5 furlongs. Diamond King was successful in the race when only 26 ran. El Bandit is a great candidate to back in the best odds for the race.

Going is soft-good in places on the cross country course.

13:30 - BACARDYS won at Leopardstown on February 12 and at the same racecourse on December 27. The 6-year-old bay gelding will face tremendous adversity in this race, with Cilaos Emery, Death Duty and Burbank being the main rivals. Odds place Blue Rambler (12/1) as the main favourite, while Bacardys is third (14/1).

14:10 - AMERICAN won at Warwick on January 14 and at Exeter on November 20. The 7-year-old bay gelding raced very little in the past two years, but odds place him as the favourite - 10/1 to win. We believe the same. A Genie In Abottle (10/1) is his main rival.

14:50 - EL BANDIT won at Musselburgh on February 5. He had four consecutive victories in 2016 and seems to be the best choice here. River Frost and Mister Myagi are his main competition.

Huntingdon betting tips

Compared with the events at the Cheltenham Festival, the racing action at Huntingdon on March 15 is substantially subdued. The focus is largely on Class 5 events with the standout being the Class 4 Live Casino At 188Bet Mares' Handicap Hurdle at 15:05. Meribel Millie is carrying an extra 7 pounds after the recent win, but he remains a top pick of the horse racing tips.

Going is good to soft-soft in places.

14:25 - MISS OSCAROSE was second at Leicester on February 28 and third at Plumpton on February 13. The 10-year-old bay mare also won at Plumpton in mid-December. Pretty risky bet, but it's the best one.

17:40 - BRECON HILL won at Catterick on February 13. The 4-year-old bay gelding goes against Blazon and Boreham Bill (considered as being his two main rivals).

Newcastle betting tips

Newcastle is also involved in several class 5 events on March 15, as it is also dominated heavily by the Cheltenham Festival. Yet, the sunbets.co.uk Handicap at 20:20 is a possible exception with plenty of interest in this event which offers a prize money of £4,690. Inaam is a potential candidate for success, according to the bet online tips.

Going is standard. No data is available for the All-Weather track.

17:50 - RYAN THE GIANT was third at Newcastle on March 2 and won at Newcastle on February 7. The 4-year-old bay gelding was second at Lingfield in late January and is definitely a great choice here. Odds are 13/8 for him to win the race.

18:20 - OUD METHA BRIDGE was second at Lingfield on February 25 and third at Chelmsford City on October 13. The 3-year-old chestnut gelding is 8/11 to win the race. Next in the odds list is The Grey Warrior, his main competitor (2/1).

19:50 - MAGIC CITY is on his way to something big. The 8-year-old bay gelding was second at Wolverhampton on February 11 and third at Chelmsford City on February 2. His form has improved a lot as of late. He is 11/4 to win the race.

Southwell betting tips

While there is a huge amount of interest surrounding Southwell through the horse racing betting options, it manages to pacify the interest by being the busiest course in the UK. On March 15, the high-profile event among horse racing odds is likely to be the Class 3 Sun Bets On The App Store Handicap at 15:55.

Going is standard. 5f - no draw advantage 6f - low numbers are best.

13:20 - FIERY SPICE won at Newcastle on March 1 and at Southwell on January 26. The 3-year-old chestnut gelding was third at Lingfield in early January, which places him among the favourites here. He is 11/8 to win the race, while Little Nosegay (7/2) is his main rival.

14:35 - Only three runners in this race. Seems to be a very wise decision. PIAZON is definitely the one you should bet on. The 6-year-old brown gelding won at Southwell on February 10, was second at the same racecourse in early January and late December. Has two other consecutive victories here in early December.
