Horse Racing Betting Tips from Leicester, Market Rasen, Wincanton and Chelmsford Dec 01

Jonathan Nixon

Horse racing today comes from Leicester, Market Rasen and Wincanton on Thursday as the winter jumps season begins to pick up pace. Chelmsford provides the only flat racing on the day with an eight race card on the all-weather to enjoy.

Leicester

Leicester racecourse is a dual purpose track with both flat and jumps racing held there across the year. The horse racing today at Leicester is of a reasonable quality with four class four races and a couple of class five contests. There is a long straight at Leicester with several obstacles still to jump on the turn for home so make use of faller insurance bets by betting online at the best odds. The King Richard III Stakes is the best race held at Leicester each year and is usually attended by a sizeable crowd.

The current going is forecast as good to soft on the hurdles course and firm, good to firm on the chase course.

2:05 – Thank you Very Much has a good chance under the in-form Brian Hughes. He won off a mark of 98 on his last start and he should be able to build on that in this.

Market Rasen

Market Rasen is a small track in Lincolnshire towards the east coast of England. It’s a tight, undulating racetrack with a small dip on the turn for home. There are only two obstacles on a relatively long straight which sees jockeys having to work hard to keep their horses honest. The premier day of racing at Market Rasen comes in July each year with the Summer Plate and Summer Hurdle Handicaps.

The going is forecast as soft.

1:55 – Iora Glas has been thereabouts for the red hot Fergal O’Brien yard and he may be able to strike off this mark today. Paddy Brennan takes the ride and knows him well.

Wincanton

Wincanton is a good quality jumps track and plays host to two class three handicaps on Thursday. The Weatherbys Handicap Chase and Handicap Hurdle (13:45 & 14:15) are the best races to bet online with good quality horses on show. Wincanton is well supported by Lambourn trainers given it’s located in Somerset with the Kingwell and Elite hurdle ranking as their two premier races.

The going at Wincanton is forecast as good to soft which is a key for your horse racing betting.

1:15 – Undisputed is an interesting horse for Noel Williams. Tom Scudamore is a good booking and this Irish import may have enough to win this mares’ maiden hurdle.

Chelmsford

Chelmsford racecourse has established itself as a premier all-weather racing venue since it reopened in early 2015. It hosts racing throughout the year but sees the majority of its fixtures hosted over the winter to give flat horses an opportunity to run. There are seven handicaps on the card on Thursday including one nursery (a handicap for 2yo’s only). You’re likely to find the best odds in the 5:45 at Chelmsford today, a class three handicap over a mile. The going is standard as usual.

4:45 – Her Terms gets the 5lb fillies’ allowance which could make all the difference for William Haggas’ runner. She has some smart form to her name and her last run is working out well. She’s likely to be one of the favourites so bet online to get the best odds available.

5:45 – Haaf A Sixpence looks a nice prospect for Ralph Beckett over the winter. He’s improved with each run this season and is starting to regain his old form. He has an excellent chance to notch up another victory.
