Horse Racing Betting Tips for Grade Events at Cheltenham and Doncaster on Jan 28

Jonathan Nixon

Cheltenham and Doncaster host some of the biggest races of January, but horse racing betting is also focused on events at Lingfield, Kempton, and Uttoxeter.

Plenty of horse racing action is scheduled on January 28, but the most important events would be taking place at Cheltenham, Doncaster, Kempton Park, Lingfield Park, and Uttoxeter. Such historic venues usually attract a lot of horse betting related interest and it is no different today.

Cheltenham

One of the best racing venues in the world, Cheltenham is widely regarded as the home of National Hunt races. Any horse which wants to be named as the best in the world has to win at Cheltenham. The Cheltenham Festival is regarded as one of the greatest horse racing events and it takes place over four days. Horse racing odds are at its best on January 28 with one Grade 1, four Grade 2, and one Grade 3 events scheduled.

A pursue of £56,950 makes the Grade 2 Betbright Trial Cotswold Chase as the richest Cheltenham event today. Thistlecrack is the clear favourite for success after winning his last four races this season.

The Grade 1 Spectra Cyber Security Solutions Clarence House Chase features 7 runners and a pursue of £39,865. The 2016 winner Un De Sceaux is once again rated as a favourite for those race according to horse racing betting tips.

Going is good to soft, while cross-country is good-good to soft in places.

12:00 - DEFI DU SEUIL won at Chepstow on December 27, at Cheltenham on December 10, at Cheltenham on November 12, and at Ffos Las on October 15. It has great potential and we expect much from him. The 4-year-old bay gelding goes against Charli Parcs and Fidux, two of his main contenders.

12:35 - CHAMPERS ON ICE is a 7-year-old grey gelding with enormous potential. Won at Uttoxeter on December 6, was runner-up at Warwick on January 14. Went through a 263-day break in 216, but had amazing results even before that. Definitely our choice here.

14:15 - THISTLECRACK has 10 consecutive victories in the past one year and a half. He last won at Kempton on Dec 26, and before that at Newbury in late November. Definitely the best choice here, we expect a victory again.

Doncaster

Doncaster is also a historic racing location in the United Kingdom. It is also considered as one of the finest racing courses in the world. The Doncaster Cup and Flying Childers Stakes are some of the numerous top events at this venue. A pursue of £45,560 makes the Sky Bet Handicap Chase at 15:40 as the richest event today. Plenty of bet online interest is expected for this listed event. The favourites have suffered some setbacks in recent races, but Regal Encore stands a great chance of success if he manages to finish. Spectator interest is expected to be high for the olbg.com Doncaster Mares' Hurdle, a Grade 2 event at 15:05.

Vroum Vroum Mag is a strong favourite for the numerous horse racing tips.

Going is good.

13:55 - CLOUDY DREAM is a 7-year-old bay gelding with a runner-up at Haydock on December 17. Also won at the same racecourse on November 18 and was first at Carlisle on October 20. Le Prezien is his main rival here.

14:30 - WHOLESTONE last won at Cheltenham on December 10. Was runner-up at the same racecourse on November 11. Had two other victories in October and September, and even 2015 was a great year for him. Definitely the best choice here.

Kempton Park

The close location to London means that Kempton Park is always busy in the horse-racing calendar. The King George VI Chase is the top event at this venue. On January 28, interest is largely going to be up on the 32red Handicap – a Class 3 race with a £7,159 pursue. Keystroke and Pearl Spectre are in among the potential candidates for success.

Going is standard. No advantage in the draw.

19:15 - GARAM is a 3-year-old bay filly with a recent victory at Wolverhampton on January 5. Odds are 5/2 for her to win, while Golden Opportunity (4/1) and White Royale (5/1) are her main rivals.

20:15 - REVOLUTIONARY WAR is a 4-year-old bay colt who won at Lingfield on January 21. Was second at Wolverhampton on January 10. Plenty of potential. Our bet.

Lingfield Park

The Lingfield Park gained the prestige of being the first racing venue in the United Kingdom for hosting all types of races from National Hunt to flat all-weather. Horse racing betting on January 28 will predominantly focus on the Sun Bets On The App Store Handicap at 14:25 and Betway Handicap at 15:35. Both these races would take place on Lingfield’s track rated as standard.

Going is standard. Low numbers are best in races up to a mile.

13:20 - METRONOMIC (5/2) has been improving a lot lately, going from the seventh or ninth place to two consecutive third places in January. His last race was the 3rd spot at Wolverhampton on January 23. Much potential here.

Uttoxeter

The two high profile races at Uttoxeter are Midlands Grand National and Summer Cup. The Staffs Construction Handicap Hurdle is a Class 2 event, and one of Uttoxeter’s best today, at 14:45. The best odds for success in this race would go to Dell' Arca.

Going is soft-heavy in places.

13:40 - MR BIG SHOT last won at Wetherby on January 24. The best choice here. His main rival is Thisonetime.

14:10 - AMBERJAM won at Uttoxeter on December 31, 2016, after a staggering two-year break in which it moved from MARTIN SMITH to O SHERWOOD.
