Match Preview – 20:05 Kick-Off at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, Brussels

Alongside fellow Belgians KRC Genk, RSC Anderlecht are considered one of the “minnows” left in the Europa League. Anderlecht struggled to overcome Cypriot side APOEL in the last round, scraping a pair of 1-0 wins to set up the Quarter Final tie with United. Having said that, their run of just 2 defeats in 19 games in all competitions is not to be sniffed at and United probably won’t be in the for an easy ride that many expect – The Belgians have won 80% of their home ties in Europe this season.

Manchester United’s domestic problems have been well documented and although they are still in with a shout of securing Champions League football through a top 4 Premier League finish, the Europa League may well represent a slightly easier way to qualify. United have lost just once in 16 in all competitions, but it has been their inability to turn draws into wins that has hampered their chances most this season – they have drawn 4 of their last 8 games.

Interestingly, United have played much better away from Old Trafford this season in the Premier League but they have won just 40% of their away games in the Europa League thus far. Read our detailed RSC Anderlecht vs Manchester United betting tips below.

RSC Anderlecht V Manchester United Predictions

Although Manchester United’s results have been passable, the general pattern of their play has been extremely underwhelming since Christmas. They have a lot of players struggling to find confidence and consistency. If RSC Anderlecht are to have any chance of qualification, then they must stay in this game as long as they can. That may well mean that they play quite defensively at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on Thursday in the hope that they can take advantage of United’s fragility at Old Trafford in the second leg.

William Hill have odds of 16/5 for the game to end level and for both teams to score which is a decent offer. In the individual markets, it’s never a bad thing to back Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score and you can get odds of 11/5 for him to be the first away goalscorer on Thursday.
