Primera División Outright Predictions 2017/18: Real Madrid Favourites For Title Glory

Simon Winter

OddsDigger’s Tips

Once again this year, all eyes will be on Spain’s big two, Real Madrid and Barcelona as they go head-to-head for club football’s top honours at home and on the continent. In the last thirteen seasons, only Atletico Madrid have broken the monopoly of Barca and Real, when Simeone’s men did the unexpected to beat both giants to the league title in 2014. Our OddsDigger Spain Primera División 1 2017/18 preview and betting tips focus largely on the possible outcomes at the top end of the table, and with the latest football betting odds for Spain Primera División outrights predicting a close finish at the summit of La Liga, it promises to be a thrilling race to see who lifts the championship in May.

Luis Suarez to finish as top scorer

Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez finished second in the goal scoring stakes last season and actually topped the charts the season before that in 2015/16. Betway have him priced at 9/2 to be Spanish football’s leading hitman again – a price that is extremely lucrative. We make him the first choice in our Spain Primera División betting tips for several reasons. Suarez has started the season with a slight knee injury, though he is expected to return in mid-September. That small injury has pushed the odds out to an incredible price. With Ronaldo and Messi that little bit older and with their influence starting to fade just a little, the door is open for Suarez to push himself out in front as La Liga’s primo goal scorer.

Levante to be relegated

Levante were promoted to the Primera División for the 2017/18 season having bounced straight back up following their relegation a couple of seasons ago in 2015/16. That year they struggled for the vast majority of the campaign, eventually finishing rock bottom having lost 22 of their 38 fixtures. They would have known that achieving safety is an uphill task once again, but further influencing our Primera División predictions is the fact Levante lost two of their better players to bigger clubs during the transfer window. Victor Camarasa moved to Real Betis, while Brazilian Deyverson joined Palmeiras back in his home country. Odds of 13/8 with 10Bet for Levante to drop straight back down to the second tier are too good to turn down

Espanyol’s Brazilian defender Naldo should be busy this season.

Sevilla to finish in the top 4

The next instalment in our free football tips is a selection from the top 4 Champions League qualification race. Sevilla will once again be battling against Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo to secure that money spinning Champions League football place in 2017/18. Last season, Sevilla lost just 8 times to cement 4th position, 5 points clear of Villarreal in 5th. Their summer business was encouraging too, to help offset the loss of Vitolo to Atletico Madrid, Luis Muriel was signed from Sampdoria and Nolito was brought in from Man City. Ever Banga should prove an astute buy from Inter, while Danish centre half Simon Kjaer brings plenty of experience to their backline. 10Bet have Sevilla priced at 6/4 to finish in the top 4 and that represents great value.

Real Madrid to win the title

Finally, we address the big one – our prediction for the 2017/18 Primera División outright winner. It was a summer of turmoil for Barcelona. They were unable to beat back the financial pressure from PSG, who activated Neymar’s enormous release clause to bring the Brazilian to France. In Ousmane Dembele, Barca have put their faith in a raw replacement and expecting the Frenchman to replicate Neymar’s numbers in terms of goals and assists is a huge ask. Real Madrid’s team looks settled and fine tuned. The current champions still look the team to beat and we could see them win the Primera División by a far more comfortable margin than last year when they took the title by just 3 points.
