Bayern Munich find themselves 13 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, with bottom-half side Augsburg not expected to put up too much in the way of resistance at the Allianz Arena.

Match Preview

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are unbeaten at home so far during the German top-flight season, winning nine and drawing three of their first dozen fixtures in Bavaria. Augsburg would be in fifth place if the Bundesliga was based on away form, but this is a new test altogether.

    - Bayern 8-0 Hamburg
    - Koln 0-3 Bayern
    - Bayern 3-0 Frankfurt
    - Gladbach 0-1 Bayern

After scoring 11 goals across their last two home league matches, Bayern are looking very potent indeed. Robert Lewandowski has 21 goals to his name already, with Arjen Robben offering plenty in the way of a threat from the right-hand side - but Douglas Costa has been struggling with an injury.

Augsburg have conceded at least two goals in their last four away fixtures in the German top flight, with Bayern, not the ideal team to try and improve that record against. They have scored just six times across their last six games as visitors, which won’t be enough to stop Die Roten.

    - Darmstadt 1-2 Augsburg
    - Augsburg 2-2 RB Leipzig
    - Schalke 3-0 Augsburg
    - Augsburg 1-1 Freiburg

Bayern Munich vs Augsburg Prediction and Betting Advice

Xabi Alonso and Javi Martinez are both suspended for the hosts, with Robben and Manuel Neuer also carrying knocks. However, given Ancelotti’s huge wealth of options, any of their absences are likely to not be felt.

After scoring 22 goals in their last six home matches in the Bundesliga, there is only one way to view this game. Augsburg will be arriving in Munich aiming for damage limitation, but there is no guarantee that they will keep the scoreline respectable.
