WRC2016: the German Rallye preview"

The ADAC Rallye Deutschland will be held from 19 to 21 August 2016 near the Greater Trier. The route of the German Rallye includes 18 special stages, covering about 306 km. This year the organizers added the new special stages and new challenges to keep fans and participants in constant tension. This stage was a real challenge for the Volkswagen team previously. Only in 2015, they succeeded to win with a 1-2-3 lead by Sebastian Ogier.

Some Facts from the Past

For the first time German Rallye was held in 1982. In 2000, Tier has been chosen as the location of the rallye and in 2002, it entered the World Championship calendar. There was a split in the locations, as the start and finish ceremonies took place in Trier in front of Porta Nigra and the headquarters, the park and media center was in the city of Trier.

In 2007, the architecture was changed a bit. They moved the park and media center from Bostalsee to the conventional grounds.

Previous Winners

The absolute favorite of Rallye Deutschland is Sebastien Loeb, who has won the race nine times. Sebastian Ogier was able to break his series of victories in 2011, and after the Alsatians left the rallye, the best three riders became: Dani Sordo (2013), Thierry Neuville (2014) and Sebastien Ogier (2015) of Volkswagen.

The Itinerary

Constantly present in the WRC calendar since 2002, German Rallye is considered the most difficult of the asphalt stages of the season. The complexity of the Rallye is in different types of coatings, and variable mountain weather encountered on the path of boulders, which are able to bring down even the most experienced crew.

The Favourites: whom to bet on?

The German Rallye has collected a large list of 89 crews, but only 11 of them are on the cars of the highest category.

Thierry Neuville from Belgium won in 2014, so his chances are rather high. The same can be said about Sebastian Ogier. Johannes Dambach is also among the favourites.
