Chepstow and Goodwood will be the only courses in England to host horse racing action on October 9. Even as the end of horse racing season is approaching, there are still some excellent events to watch out for. Racecourses like Chepstow and Goodwood will form the main events in England on October 9, although horse racing today will also feature events at Curragh and Limerick in Ireland.
Located in South East Wales, Chepstow racecourse has always been regarded as a fine track for hosting flat and National Hunt races. It was originally designed as a flat course by Sir Gordon Richards, who managed to win 11 consecutive races at this track over the course of just two days back in 1933. Even though Chepstow has started gaining prominence in horse racing betting as a National Hunt course, it still remains great for flat races.
John Ayres Memorial Handicap Chase and tote pool Persian War Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) are the two events expected to be top favourites amongst fans. For the first event, Voix d'eau and Indian Stream are favourites in the latest horse racing tips. Meanwhile, it is expected to be a close fight between Bagad Bihoue and Byron Flyer for the second event. As the track is rated from good to firm for the events, racing action is expected to be of top notch quality.
Going is soft-good in places.
16:30 - BYRON FLYER is in great shape. He had a winning streak from April to June 2016 and was 4th out of 11 runners at Epsom Downs on September 25. His main contender here is BAGAD BIHOUE, a horse with a winning streak from July to August (4 runs) who hasn't competed since then.
The first action of October at Goodwood features some interesting collection of events, which will be the focus of horse racing betting tips. Goodwood Racehorse Owners Group Handicap with a prize money of £16,172 is clearly the pick of the bunch. Three race wins since July places You're Hired as a favourite for this event. You're Hired has managed to get an impressive three wins in the last four events. The last race for the horse trained by A J Perrett was back in September. The best odds are likely to focus on this horse for the top event.
A picturesque racecourse, Goodwood is expected to be good to soft on October 9. The course has always been tricky and stewards have quite a busy time during all events. This is unlikely to be any different, according to bet online odds, for the upcoming events.
Going is good to soft. Low numbers are best in sprints, even though a fast start is also important.
16:50 - SOUTHDOWN LAD is a real champion. It's a risky bet given the number of runners in the race, but he won at Newbury on September 16 and was 3rd out of 15 runners at Newbury in May. UAE PRINCE deserves some respect.
15:45 - LINCOLN won two races in September - at Ayr and Pontefract. He was 6th out of 16 runners at Haydock on September 24 and could be a great choice.
