LadBrokes Gold Cup Preview

Regarded as one of the prestigious events in the UK greyhound racing season, the Ladbrokes Gold Cup came back into existence in 1994 after being previously known as the Midland Gold Cup. The Monmore Green stadium plays host to the event, which is run over a distance of 480 m. Barrie Draper happens to be one of the most successful trainers in this competition after winning it in back-to-back campaigns with Boherna On Air and Boherna Best. Let's see our greyhound race tips.

Droopys Buick Can Be In The Driving Seat (Smaller Risk)

Betting on dogs in a high profile race like the Ladbrokes Gold Cup provides plenty of great odds. The 2016 winner Jaytee Spartacus started out with a great price last year. However, the 2017 event is likely to be won by Droopys Buick, with best odds given by 10Bet - 11/4. The three-year-old came second in the latest Nottingham 21:08 race on July 26 and boasts an incredible form. Trained by Harrison, this dog is provided an excellent price in order to achieve success. He weighed in at a favourable 34.9 LBS.

Droopys Buick is available at a reasonable 11/4 for a victory. Even though the dog may not have won the last race in Nottingham, there are some excellent metrics like favourable weight and race distance to consider backing the three-year-old for success.

Forest Con Can Grind Out Victory (Medium Risk)

Forest Con is not too far behind in terms of challenging for the trophy. The odds for backing Forest Con are relatively good at 9/2 (best odds by Ladbrokes). The two-year-old comes in with spectacular statistics which have clearly played a major role in his relatively high odds, despite recent results not being the best. Trained by K R Hutton, Forest Con has managed only two third-place finishes in the last two races. In the last race, he was carrying a weight of 34.1 LBS – down from the 34.2 LBS.

Forest Con is a great bet at 9/2 in the greyhound race tips. Even though he has not been able to win the last two races in which he has contested, the favourable weight coupled with the ability to come close in the 450 m category are factors that place him as second favourites.

Droopys Country Drawn For Action (Medium Risk)

Droopys Country is possibly given the best odds of the three favourites so far - at 6/1 by Winner. Aged only two, this dog is trained by A Harrison. The dog has been able to achieve success in the 21:08 Sunderland on 19 July. The weight carried by the two-year-old was also only 33.4. If the same statistics are kept, Droopys Country is a great pick at 6/1.

Bubbly Turbo Is a Good Choice For High Risk

Bubbly Turbo was last seen competing at Sunderland on July 8 (22:03). The three-year-old trained by P W Young is given odds of 16/1 by Betfair, being an excellent choice for those looking for higher risk. He did a great job at the William Hill Greyhound Derby in May 2016 and boasts a lot of potential. In the most popular bets on aggregate websites, he's third.

Each runner we picked offers different odds and different levels of risk. Each punter should choose depending on his or her comfortable level of risk.
