Newly promoted Chaves won a lot of points in the first months of the season, and are now comfortably safe in midtable in a hugely successful season. Chaves lost just nine games this season, but five of those defeats were in the last seven fixtures, and that clearly shows that their motivation is nowhere to be seen. On the other hand, Moreirense are very motivated in their relegation battle. At the moment, Moreirense are 16th, just a single point ahead of Tondela in the relegation zone, and a win in absolutely crucial for them.
Last Monday, Moreirense have finally managed to win their first game since January, away at Nacional, and that enabled them to continue dreaming of survival. Their game is supposed to be tight against draw specialists Chaves, but Moreirense must be considered slight favourites because of their position in the table, and also because Chaves lost their last four away fixtures and haven't won away since September. The odds are not too bad at 2.10. Goals are not frequent in Moreirense matches, with seven out of the last eight going under 2.5 goals, so the odds look nice at 1.66.
