Wigan and Rotherham currently prop up the Championship table, finding themselves in 24th and 23rd place respectively heading into the weekend, but the former have a slim chance of survival.
The hosts are six points behind closest rivals Blackburn, and seven points off Bristol City, but it will take a mammoth effort for the Latics to clamber their way out of the relegation zone and towards salvation.
Wigan have picked up just one win in their last nine league outings, and have recently gone on a run of losing four times consecutively while scoring just once in the process.
In their last nine Championship outings, Wigan have scored just three goals, which will give Rotherham some belief that they will avoid a heavy beating this weekend, of which they have suffered quite a few this season.
Rotherham have won just four games this season and find themselves on a mere 17 points, having last picked up three points all the way back in January against Norwich. Since that game, they have taken one point from a possible 42.
Rotherham have scored one goal in their last six games, but this weekend should be a little evener. Both teams are in poor form, but home advantage and a little more quality from Wigan’s squad should secure a confidence-boosting three points for the Latics.
