Blackburn are running out of time to clamber out of the relegation zone, with Tony Mowbray’s men currently one point off safety with six games to go. Barnsley, meanwhile, are safely in mid-table.
The hosts have lost their last two Championship games, but both of them came on the road, with Blackburn managing to piece together some good form at Ewood Park in recent months.
Blackburn have failed to keep a clean sheet since the first week of March, which is something that Barnsley will be keen to take advantage of, with Rovers leaking goals. The visitors, however, have been goal shy themselves of late.
Barnsley last won on the 14th February against Aston Villa, and have since lost their last three consecutive away matches in the Championship. It looks to be a big chance for Blackburn to go three points closer to safety.
Both central defenders Charlie Mulgrew and Darragh Lenihan were taken off with injury problems for Blackburn last time out, which isn’t ideal for a side who have conceded an average of two goals per game in their last four outings.
Neither side are in excellent form coming into this one, but home advantage looks as though it could be enough to fire Blackburn to a vital three points in the Championship relegation battle.
