Lewis Hamilton is looking to take his fifth consecutive victory when he steps onto the Belgian Grand Prix on August 28. Formula One returns to action after a short break following the conclusion of the German Grand Prix back in July.

Favourites

Hamilton made a poor start compared to teammate Nico Rosberg earlier in the campaign, what he has stormed into the lead with spectacular form in recent months. After four straight victories, Hamilton has now opened a 43-point advantage over his teammate. Belgian Grand Prix odds state that Hamilton is now favourite to claim a fifth consecutive win.

Even as Hamilton continues his good form, questions will be asked about Rosberg as to how he has managed to let go of a great opportunity to win the F1 Drivers’ Championship title. Since winning the Russian Grand Prix in May, the German has managed just one victory. Rosberg, though, is likely to stay confident about getting back in front – as far as the F1 odds is concerned – if Hamilton receives the engine penalty as expected. There is even a possibility that Hamilton could receive two engine penalties, which could shift the advantage in favour of Rosberg.

The Circuit

Hamilton, though, sounded confident about victory in the Drivers’ Championship after the race in Germany. One of the iconic race tracks in the F1 calendar has always been Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The first race was held here in 1925 and it was one of the favourite tracks for F1 legend Michael Schumacher, who has the most number of victories (six) at this track. Most of the victories achieved by Schumacher were with Ferrari, who are no closer towards winning a race this season. Their last victory at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps came in 2009 courtesy of Kimi Räikkönen. This 7 km long circuit consists of fast sweeping bends which have long been a fascination of Formula 1 drivers. Most Formula One drivers claim that Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is their favourite circuit in the entire F1 calendar even after all these years. The circuit is also known for its unpredictable weather, which could affect the betting tips and, consequently, punters who bet online.

2016 Belgian Grand Prix Odds

The odds for Nico Rosberg to win the Grand Prix are 1/2 at BetStars and BetFred. The odds for Lewis Hamilton to win are 6 and 8, respectively. Ricciardo and Verstappen have both the same odds at the aforementioned bookies - 8 and 9. The odds for Vettel to win are 12.

Fact

Last season, Hamilton just missed out on a perfect record as Rosberg set the fastest lap. Hamilton had qualified on pole and won the race. If either one of Sebastian Vettel or Hamilton manages to win on August 28, they could join Damon Hill and Juan Manuel Fangio as the drivers to have won the Belgian Grand Prix thrice.
