Cheeseburgers and cookies: World No.1’s Masters menu revealed as awkward reunion looms

No need to grill Scottie Scheffler about his Masters Club Dinner menu.

The 2022 Masters winner and current World No. 1 will be serving up cheeseburger sliders, firecracker shrimp and Texas ribeye among the backyard barbecue-style offerings for the annual meal that is hosted by the defending champion.

Scheffler will host the dinner on April 4 — in front of all the previous Masters winners and the Augusta National chairman — before beginning the defence of his title starting April 6.

That is, if he and his fellow golfers aren’t still stuffed.

The menu also includes tortilla soup, blackened redfish — for those who don’t like red meat — with sides of macaroni and cheese, Jalapeño creamed corn, fried brussels sprouts and seasoned fries, served family style.

Oh, and chocolate chip cookies and ice cream for dessert.

Scheffler’s dinner will be the first since LIV Golf’s inception, and the room could include several golfers who jumped to the Saudi-backed start-up — including three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson.

Despite any lingering hostilities between the two factions, Scheffler expects it to be about the dinner.

“Gathering all those guys together in a room, I mean, it should be a lot of fun,” Scheffler said at the Genesis Invitational last month.

”It’s a historic group of people, Masters champions, and I’m sure that we’ll all put our personal opinions aside and just have a good night and just kind of enjoy what the night really is.”

Dating back to 1952, the Masters Club Dinner was starter by Ben Hogan to bring all the champions together.

First-time winners typically choose a menu to show off their heritage or upbringing.

Recent examples include Hideki Matsuyma’s sushi and Adam Scott’s Moreton Bay bugs.

Tiger Woods served cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, French fries, and strawberry and vanilla milkshakes after his first win in 1998.

Attendees wear their Masters green jackets.
