Can it get much worse? LIV’s viewing figures drop even further in embarrassing new low

Remember when LIV Golf was supposed to take over the sport?

It’s definitely not doing that with it’s television ratings so far on The CW Network.

According to a report, the ratings spiralled downward during its second event of the year this weekend in Tucson, Ariz.

Kevin Van Valkenburg of the golf-centric No Laying Up reports that LIV Golf scored a 0.14 rating in the key 18-49 demographic across 33 markets from their Arizona-based showcase on Saturday.

It’s a worse performance than just three weeks prior.

Just last month, LIV Golf had their TV debut for its first 2023 event in Mexico, and the ratings were disastrous.

LIV Golf Mayakoba similarly scored a 0.2 in Saturday’s overnight ratings, and were outdone by “World’s Funniest Animals” later that day.

The league agreed to a multi-year deal with CW in January after streaming it’s events last year.

Furthermore, when stacked against the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic in late February — which spawned a weaker total field of golfers than usual — there was absolutely no comparison with the Saudi-backed league.

The Honda Classic scored 1.61 and 2.38 million total viewers on NBC that Saturday and Sunday.

Separate broadcasts of the event on Golf Channel drew between 342,000 to 631,000.

LIV Golf? Just 286,000 viewers on Saturday and 291,000 on Sunday on its CW broadcasts.

Fireballs FC, captained by 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia, was leading the team competition in Tucson late Sunday at 25-under par.

Louis Oosthuizen, Carlos Ortiz, Brendan Steele and Danny Lee were going to a four-way playoff after finishing the final round tied at 9-under.
