WA smashes records with absurd batting explosion, Agar shines to claim Marsh Cup title

Western Australia has claimed another Marsh Cup after cruising to their highest ever total in domestic cricket in Wednesday’s final at the WACA against South Australia.

Josh Inglis and Mitch Marsh both set scoring records as the star-studded side posted 7-387 after being sent in, equalling their own one-day domestic record.

In response despite making a quick start SA was bowled out for 206, with Ashton Agar taking 5-64 including the crucial wicket of Henry Hunt who top scored with 50.

Earlier Inglis posted an 87-ball century which he took all the way to 138 - the highest individual score in a One-Day Cup final - alongside Cameron Bancroft who was dismissed for 90 off 112 balls.

The previous highest score in a One-Day Cup final was Michael Bevan’s unbeaten 135 for NSW against WA in 2000-01.

A blistering Marsh half-century off just 27 balls was the fastest in a domestic one-day final, and included eight boundaries.

The previous record belonged to Rod Marsh’s 32-ball 50 against South Australia in 1983-84.

Perhaps most remarkably the record team total came after WA was 1-35 after 10 overs.

They scored 210 runs in the last 20 overs of their innings.
