The first semi-final of Eurovision 2016 is on 10 May. Bookmakers gave the forecast, who will compete with Sergey Lazarev in the struggle for victory in Eurovision 2016. On May 10, 2016 in Stockholm, the first semifinal of the musical contest "Eurovision" will be held.
Performers from 18 countries are the participants of the first semi-final of "Eurovision" in 2016. Among them is Sergey Lazarev from Russia. He will present the song ‘You Are The Only the One’. Backers taking short odds on Russia to win the competition at 5/4, or this semi-final at 4/11. He was not always among the leaders with bookmakers. But now his position is rather firm and according to bookies’, he has more chances to win than any other participant.
As to other participants, Croatia is not performing as well as it was expected. There are rather good odds at The Netherlands 25/1 (from Betway and Skyway) to be the winner of the first semi-final. The song of the participant from Denmark ‘Slow Down’, Douwe Bob, resembles the Russian one. It has an easy-listening retro American sound.
The second favourite in this semi-final is Iveta Mukuchyan from Armenia with the song ‘Love Wave’. It is an avant-garde mishmash of elements. We do not expect any difficulties for Iveta to qualify for the final. She was rather impressive at the rehearsal.
Others at short odds that we expect to progress are Iceland, the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Malta. Therefore, there are three places left. We suppose that Croatia and Hungary have better chances to occupy them, than Greece, Moldova or Finland. Hungary performed well at the rehearsal.
It is possible that Austria, Estonia, Bosnia or Azerbaijan will struggle for the final two places. They also look better than San Marino or Montenegro. But live performance is a rather difficult ordeal and none of them show any confidence.
