Wolverhampton Tops Horse Betting Tips for January 16 with Ayr and Plumpton

Jonathan Nixon

Wolverhampton has the pick of the horse racing betting focus on January 16, but events are also scheduled at Plumpton and Ayr.

Horse racing in the United Kingdom on January 16 sees three major causes hosting the events – Ayr, Plumpton, and Wolverhampton. These courses may not be in the same league as an Aintree, but they are special in their own right. As a result, there is plenty of horse racing betting related interest around these events.

Ayr

The westerly racecourse in the United Kingdom, Ayr has two major events in September and in April. The event in September is the Ayr Gold Cup, and it is regarded as one of the best sprint handicaps in Europe. The Scottish Grand National taking place in April is held over two days and it is regarded as a huge festival. Interest in horse betting on January 16 is unlikely to see both these races, as the focus will completely be upon Racing UK Day Pass Just 10 Chase at 14:45. Un Noble secured victory in the 2016 edition of this race, but Eastview Boy is seen as the likely candidate for the 2017 version according to the horse racing tips.

Going is heavy-soft in places.

13:10 - NIETZSCHE was third at Musselburgh on January 1st and won at Catterick on December 13. Was 2nd at Newcastle on November 26. Second at Wetherby on October 28. Had plenty of other victories in 2016, showing an increased form consistently. Lycidas is his main contender here.

Plumpton

Plumpton has been hosting horse races since 1884 and it is one of the oldest venues in the world. The highlight event at this track is Sussex National Handicap Chase, which is held in January. There are plenty of other races of interest at Plumpton, but focus on January 16 is likely to fall upon the jasonhallracing.com 'Sharing Success' Handicap Chase at 15:05. As per the bet online tips, Bears Rails is a favourite to win this event. In terms of hurdle events, 'my Timeform' On The Timeform App Handicap Hurdle could be of interest.

Going is soft.

13:25 - BASTIEN won at Fontwell on December 26. The 6-year-old bay gelding raced very little in 2016, but his recent form shows that we should expect much.

14:35 - KID KALANISI won at Fontwell on December 26. The 6-year-old bay gelding goes against Brown Bear and American Life, two of his main competitors.

16:10 - CATCHING TIME was 5th at both Ludlow and Plumpton on December 21 and January 2 and his form has been increasing a lot. The 9-year-old bay gelding goes against Cafe Au Lait, his main rival.

Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton is involved throughout the horse racing calendar year with its Dunstall Park venue – an all-weather location perfect for all forms of racing. As a result, horse racing odds are in plenty concerning Wolverhampton events. The Betway (fast Track Qualifier) Conditions Stakes is a Class 2 event with the biggest amount of popularity amongst horse racing betting tips. Watersmeet and Rock Steady are seen as the biggest competitors for this event according to the best odds.

Going is standard. No advantage in the draw.

13:50 - GENTLEMAN GILES won at Wolverhampton on January 7. Was 5th at Southwell on December 13. Was 5th at Chelmsford on December 8, but his form is improving. We expect much effort in this race.

15:25 - REBEL LIGHTNING had a good evolution as of late, getting from a runner-up at Lingfield on Nov 30 to another second spot at Chelmsford on December 15 and to a third place at Wolverhampton on January 4.
