Another Saturday to look forward to with a full card north and south of the border as we edge towards the business end of the season.
It all kicks-off at 12.30 when Manchester City welcome Newcastle to the Etihad. The Magpies have hit a major slump at the wrong time of the season, it's now four without a win in the league and last week's loss to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final prolonged their long wait for silverware on Tyneside.
Eddie Howe's side went toe-to-toe with City earlier in the season but let a two-goal lead slip in an entertaining 3-3 draw. The visitors' three goals that day made it 23 in the last six meetings between the sides and even though Newcastle boast the best defensive record in the top flight (15 conceded in 23, only seven lost away from home) it's just 8/15 for Pep Guardiola's side to score two or more.
With confidence drained it's hard to make a case for the visitors so a Man City win looks like one for the access.
Mikel Arteta seems to have steadied the ship after a wobble a few weeks ago. Three wins on the bounce have re-energised Arsenal‘s push for the title and they shouldn't have too much trouble against Bournemouth this afternoon.
The Gunners are just 1/5 so there's little value to be had there. But they could rack up a few goals agianst the ailing Cherries. A goal in each half for the home side pays 5/6.
Graham Potter is a man under serious pressure. Two wins in 15 is relegation form from Cheslea. Defeat at home to Leeds this afternoon could bring his tenure at Stamford Bridge to an end. The good news for the Blues is that Leeds are in equally bad shape although it would take a brave man to be backing Chelsea at 8/13 at the moment.
Middlesbrough‘s defeat to West Brom last time out could work in our favour today. That was their first defeat in six which might have caused their price to ease a little at home to Reading today. The Royals have a terrible record away from home where they've managed just 11 points from 51. Boro look solid enough at 9/20.
In Scotland Michael Beale needs to pick up the pieces following Rangers‘ League Cup final defeat to Celtic last weekend. He's sure to make changes following criticism of his team selection, either way he should get a reaction out of his side against Kilmarnock.
The visitors have yet to win away from in the league this season and it would be a major surprise if they broke their duck at Ibrox this afternoon. They've won just two points on the road, from a possible 42 so even the 16/1 on them winning looks short.
They've failed to score in their last four trips to Rangers and a home win to nil pays 8/11.
Hibernian have quietly moved up the table with a run of three wins and a draw, overtaking today's opponents Livingston in the process but it's a surprise to see them clear favourites to win at the Toni Macaroni Stadium today.
David Martindale's side are admittedly in the middle of a poor run, certainly by their standards, which has seen them win just one of their last six. However it's been a tough run of fixtures which has included matches against Celtic, Rangers and Hearts and you'd expect they'll bounce back sooner rather than later. At 11/5 today they look worth taking on especially considering they've won their last three at home to the Hibees.
In League One Falkirk continue to chase down Dunfermline at the top of the table. The Bairns are unbeaten in 10, winning nine of those, and should cruise to victory against bottom side Peterhead. Falkirk have only kept two clean sheets in that run so may need to score a few to win but chances are they'll win handsomely. Three or more goals for Falkirk looks tasty at 11/10 – a tally Peterhead have shipped 14 times this season.
It's a similar story in League Two where Stirling Albion have Dumbarton in their sights. They're unbeaten in seven having won four and drawn three, up against Albion Rovers who have won just one of their last six. Doubling them with Falkirk pays just over even money.
Rizzel has picked out his six best fancies for Saturday's racing, including a 2pt NAP at Newbury.
