West Ham find themselves being dragged towards the relegation zone rapidly, with the teams around them beginning to pick up points. Swansea are one of those teams, and had Paul Clement’s men managed to hold onto three points against Spurs, things could be different.
Three late goals from Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen frustrated the Swans on Wednesday, as the Tottenham trio struck from the 88th minute onwards to triumph 3-1 and ensure that things didn’t go from bad to worse for the Hammers.
Teams in turmoil have been doing well against West Ham, it seems, with the likes of relegation-threatened Hull and Leicester picking up victories in the recent past. Arsenal, who have been under immense pressure recently, cruised to a three-goal margin of victory.
Slaven Bilic’s men have conceded 11 times in their last four Premier League games, with the gap between themselves and the bottom three diminishing at an alarming rate. As it stands, the hosts are just five points clear of 18th-placed Swansea.
Michail Antonio should be fit for the hosts, despite illness, with the likes of Aaron Cresswell, Winston Reid, and Angelo Ogbonna still missing from a patched-up defence.
Swansea may be confident that they will be able to do some damage to their opponents on the weekend, but the motivation of facing the Premier League’s third-bottom club should force the Hammers into life.
