Sunderland are rock-bottom of the table, seemingly on their way to inevitable relegation. Sunderland's biggest problem is that they are unable to score goals, with seven games in a row without finding the net. Remarkably, Sunderland managed to score in just one game out of the last ten – and that was when they thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 in London in the beginning of February. Sunderland failed to score at West Ham as well in October, but their rivals are going through a rough period themselves. West Ham lost five games in a row before beating Swansea on Saturday, and can't feel safe yet in 14th place.
Since Sunderland have been unable to score for a while, the odds on West Ham to keep a clean sheet (3.40) look outrageously generous at 3.40. Nothing is certain, of course, but the chances of Sunderland failing to find the net for another 90 minutes are much better than the odds suggest. Taking the low scoring nature of the last Sunderland fixtures, it is also logical to expect another tight game. The odds on less than 2.5 goals in this game look tempting at 2.00, and it should be remembered that the first clash between West Ham and Sunderland ended in a 1-0 win.
