Spurs boss reportedly sacked in wake of explosive presser as three contenders emerge

Just days after his explosive press conference in which he tore into his own players, Antonio Conte is reportedly set to be sacked from Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are expected to sever ties with Conte this week.

Conte launched into a lengthy rant after watching his side capitulate against Southampton as Spurs conceded two goals to the last-placed Saints in the space of 15 minutes to draw 3-3.

The Italian boss then went on to criticise his troops, branding them “selfish” and lashing their mentality.

The report states Conte is unlikely to back down from his comments, making his position almost untenable.

The club is yet to make an official statement on the matter almost 48 hours after the press conference.

Spurs sit in fourth place but are only two points ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle, who have the fortune of having two games in hand.

With most of the London club’s stars now away on international duty, Levy must deliberate as to whether he will give former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason the temporary job or if he goes all-in on the long-term replacement now.

Luis Enrique, Thomas Tuchel and former boss Mauricio Pochettino are listed as the most likely replacements and in an added bonus, all three are out of work and would be immediately available.

The question then becomes if they are willing to jump into the job with 10 games to go in the season or if they would rather start in the pre-season.

Pochettino was last in the Tottenham hot seat in November 2019 but was sacked after a horror run of form.

The Argentine’s last job was with Paris Saint-Germian where he led the side to a Ligue 1 triumph last season and a Coupe de France victory in 2020/21.
