The captain stopped all the long questions when he cut Angelo Matthews for four through third man and attached the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting at the highest echelons of the play.

At the moment, the left-handed opener has scored 28 Test centuries in 127 Tests and proceeds being the main force of the youthful English side going forward.

In 2006, Cook made his Test debut playing against India, replacing Marcus Trescothick and he started building his international career, as he wanted to go on through scoring a hundred.

In 2009, 2010/2011 he continued to be a key cog in England Ashes winning sides and became the captain of The Three Lions, leading the team to a victory in 2013 and 2015.

Alastair Cook also led the side to their first winning on Indian soil since 1984-85 as their captain. He has also become the first captain to score five centuries in every five Tests in charge.

The England captain proceeded to go from strength to strength and can beat Sachin Tendulkar's record of 15,921 to be the best Test batsman in history according to statistics.

All the fans of Essex Cricket will be glad to congratulate Cook on such a fantastic feat.
