Racing Tips – Wannabe Brave can complete the hat-trick at Lingfield
My sole selection on Wednesday was very disappointing and never looked like landing a blow. Jimih was ridden out the back and didn't seem to be traveling throughout. I was disappointed with the run but when you tip up a horse in a race of that quality then I can't say I'm surprised either.
I've concentrated on the meetings at Ripon and Lingfield for my two selections on Thursday.
Loyal Touch 10/3 – Ripon 4:20
I thought Loyal Touch was of interest in this contest. He recently ran in the York Dante Festival a couple of weeks ago which saw him finish seventh, five and a quarter lengths of the eventual winner Botanical who I tipped up to win the race that day. Finishing seventh on paper doesn't look all that impressive, but when you consider how impressive Botanical was that day, the finishing margin doesn't look all that bad.
Previous to the York outing, Loyal Touch finished second at Chester behind Tony Montana. He only lost out by half a length that day and the form has since received a boost with Tony Montana winning again last Sunday. This contest represents a drop back in class and with a handy draw in stall one, I fully expect a positive ride from Joe Fanning.
Wannabe Brave 3/1 – Lingfield 2:20
I think Wannabe Brave holds every chance in this contest of landing the hat-trick. My selection has dropped down the ratings in recent times, having been rated as high as 65 in 2022. He won a handicap in October 2022 and from that win, his form dipped, having not won a race in roughly a year and a half.
He seems to have turned a corner this season, winning his last two races at Wolverhampton and Lingfield, finally taking advantage of a drop in grade and a reduced mark.
I took a quick look at his previous run at Chelmsford last week. He missed the break at the start but once he caught up lost ground he made steady headway to lead inside the final furlong and win by a length. My selection escapes a penalty for that Chelmsford success as it was an apprentice handicap, so he comes here with an unchanged mark, making him a key player.
Oisin Murphy takes the ride, he rode Wannabe Brave on his return to form at Wolverhampton which is a positive.
