EVENT ENDED!

This Friday's Guiness Pro 14 clash between Munster and Dragons at Irish Independent Park sees both teams boasting incredible forms. On Munster's side, a number of players are progressing really well, and Rassie Erasmus confirmed on Oct 30 that Simon Zebo and Chris Cloete will both play on Friday's night encounter.

Munster vs Dragons Preview

The two teams meet on Friday night in the Guinness Pro 14 showdown. Ironically, the two teams boast similar recent form with both having just one of their last 4 games in the competition. They both lost during the weekend with Munster losing to Connacht and the Dragons falling to the Ospreys.

Munster did start the season well with three straight wins and currently sit second in Conference A in the Pro 14 standings. The team trail Glasgow Warriors by 12 points, while the Cheetahs are just one point behind in the table.

For the Dragons, it’s been a poor start to the campaign with them winning just two games so far. They are currently languishing second from bottom in Conference B and they desperately need a shift in fortunes. Even after seven games into the season, Dragons are four points behind Benetton Rugby. For the time being, the Dragons will drop to the bottom as Southern Kings are yet to take any points this season.

Munster vs Dragons Prediction

Considering the two teams have played each other a total of thirty times and the Dragons have won only eight, the omens are most definitely with Munster. Their Champions Cup pedigree and home advantage will be too much for the Dragons. The Irishmen have the capability to bounce back to form and cover that 18-point spread.

Munster vs Dragons Betting Tips

Munster are a huge favourite in terms betting. In terms of the outright win, the best numbers available to back them for a victory are at 1/16 with Betfair. That’s a crazy line! You’re better off putting your money on the underdog. William Hill is offering 8/1, but this is also not good enough. The real value is in going with the handicap, since Munster has a history of crushing most of its weaker competition. Betfair are giving Munster -19 a good price, and it's one of the best picks here given Munster's strength. Alternatively, you could go the other way (Dragons +19) and take similar rugby odds.

Munster boast a superior points difference and have scored big wins in their opening games, with the most notable being at home to Benetton and the Cheetahs. While Rassie Erasmus (Director fo Rugby for Munster) has not changed things much this season, Dave Kilcoyne is among the replacements, and centre Rory Scannel is also playing. Their powerful squad which also includes veteran forward Billy Holland is enough for us to back this market against a terribly weak team.
